Local weather change protesters in London have focused insurance coverage underwriting home Lloyd’s of London for its function in enabling fossil gasoline tasks.
The Metropolis of London Police mentioned they were aware of protests at London’s Liverpool Road Station and the Lloyd’s constructing on Lime Road. A minimum of 10 police vans had been seen exterior the constructing, and a helicopter hovered above.
The Extinction Insurrection activists unfurled a banner from the exterior staircase of the Lloyd’s constructing that learn “finish fossil fuels now,” and blocked the primary entrance of the constructing, though staff may nonetheless be seen to be coming into via different entrances.

Lloyd’s of London didn’t instantly reply to requests for remark. [Editor’s note: After this article was published by Bloomberg, Lloyd’s issued a notice that the protesters had blocked access to the building. “In the interests of your safety, please do not approach the Lloyd’s building at present. Instead, please work from other locations for the remainder of the day,” Lloyd’s said.]
Extinction Insurrection is a principally UK-based activist group who perform disruptive and dramatic protests with the purpose of sparking motion to deal with local weather change.
