U.S. and Canadian authorities leaders have agreed to work collectively to deal with flooding close to the northwest Washington state border with Canada on the Nooksack River.
The Bellingham Herald reported Washington state Gov. Jay Inslee and British Columbia Premier John Horgan in a joint assertion pledged “to construct a sustained and ongoing transboundary initiative to deal with Nooksack River flooding prevention and response.”
Particulars shall be disclosed this spring, the assertion stated. Flooding on the Nooksack is occurring extra incessantly and with larger depth amid local weather change.
Storms in November 2021 prompted two rounds of flooding on the river which displaced an estimated 500 Whatcom County residents whereas some 14,000 folks in Canada have been evacuated.
